This table summarizes all Grade Book buttons, when they appear, and what each one does.

| Button | When It Appears | What It Does |

| Input Grades | When the Grade Book is unlocked and in read-only mode | Opens the Grade Book for editing. All grade fields become editable. |
| Cancel | When in editing mode (after clicking Input Grades) | Discards all unsaved draft entries and returns the Grade Book to the last saved state. |
| Preview Changes | When in editing mode | Saves current entries as a draft and switches the Grade Book to draft review mode. |
| Make Changes | When in draft mode (after Preview Changes) | Reopens the Grade Book for further editing. |
| Apply Grades | When in draft mode | Finalizes the draft, applies transmutation rules, and commits grades to the Grade Sheet. |

💡 Faculty can edit or reapply grades anytime until the Grade Book is locked.
Input Grades → Enter scores
Preview Changes → Save as draft
Make Changes (optional) → Edit again
Apply Grades → Finalize & transmute to Grade Sheet
Use Preview Changes often to save your work.
Grades only appear in the Grade Sheet after Apply Grades is clicked.
If the Grade Book is locked, contact your Admin or Registrar.
Always check totals and component scores before applying.
